Essential Oils and Fragrances
Nothing is more memorable than a smell. One scent can be unexpected, momentary and fleeting, yet conjure up a childhood summer beside a lake in the mountains. ~ Diane Ackerman, an American poet, essayist and naturalist.
The connections we make with scent are long lasting and strong because they come from deep within. Of all our senses, smell is most directly connected to our mind, our emotions and our memories. Studies show that inhaling a scent has an immediate effect on brain activity. Scents access centers in the brain linked to conscious thought and memories.
Aromatherapy enhances our life with the use of essential oils derived from plant, tree and flower extracts. Different cultures have recognized aromatic plants and essential oils for thousands of years to enhance health as well as in spiritual practices. An increased emphasis on holistic healing has prompted modern methods of using oils for well-being and beauty care. More people are finding that natural ingredients can improve their life. The benefits of essential oils are continually being researched and tested to provide a better understanding of the useful properties.
Each of our products is uniquely mixed. By using earth-based essential oil, each item imbues the curative powers of nature for a time-tested way of self-care. There are two main ways to benefit from essential oils: 1) aromatically, simply inhaling and 2) topically, absorbing through the skin.
Essential oils connect to our nervous system on both a mental and physical level. Different oils can have a positive effect on our body in the following ways:
- Cleansing, better circulation and detoxification
- Mood and well-being
- Focus, concentration and stimulation
- Calming and relaxation
- Balance and energy
- Boost immunity
Essential oils can be used to enhance and support spiritual practices such as meditation, breathing exercises, yoga, prayer and religious ceremonies. They can be used to clear our chakras and allow chi, our vital energy, to flow.
Baths are an easy self-care practice. Adding essential oils increases the therapeutic potential. Warm water aids skin to absorb the oils as well as enhance the aromatherapy benefits. Many oils have antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that make them an excellent skin conditioner.
Using soap or gel with essential oils can turn your daily shower from a routine experience into an incredibly positive effect on your mood and well-being. Have an energizing shower to kick-start your day!
Massage is another powerful form of self-care. Whether self-applied or by another person, it’s a way to de-stress, soothe muscles, relax the mind and rejuvenate the spirit (our essence). Massage can restore or invigorate the body and alleviate pain or soreness. Essential oils enhance a massage by softening and nourishing your skin and enhance the mental and physiological benefits.
Essential oils have many positive effects on our mood, skin and hair from soothing and softening fine lines to moisturizing and conditioning. Essential oils are a platform to connect with the essence of nature and the plant world – a gift from the earth for our well-being.
